Well, actually the reason I think the bosses with the elite skills I want lose is because it's usually 8 vs 1, they usually don't have your full 8 skills, I know what they're carrying and have a balanced team to beat them, and they're running off AI, as opposed to a human brain.
Hmm Flesh Golems alright, but i dont like going mm, weaken knees and soul bind can piss people off (especially weaken knees) i tried in a 12 v 12 before, and i run away from a toucher and hit him, recast run away shoot him etc...= A nooby touch ranger complaining? anyways.... ive capped all the new necro elites, and i havent used them all yet, but my favorite so far is VAMP SPIRIT I'll tell my build maybe its posted somewhere already, but i made my own up..
Equipment- I use Tats chest and arms from grotto, then i use.. i think its Cabalitists ( stuff that gives energy)Luxon pants for the looks, Helm i just use a Droks +1 blood. I have a sup blood, minor soul reap, and major vigor runes.
I use an Insightful Evil eye staff of enchanting.......................................
+15 energy, 20% HSR, 20%HCR Blood, Enchantments last 20% longer (its a moded collector item)
The purpose of the build, either pvp or pve is to get up close and own a person, while healing yourself, Use the build as Follows:
I use this alot with henchies, so i'm usualy the first one to aggro, i run up to say a warrior,
Vamp spirit, Channeling, Shadow Strike Lifebane Strike, dark pact, vamp gaze, dark pact.........he should be dead by now and u should still have around half energy (or not depending upon how much channeling picked up, or how many spells u casted) I try to throw up a well after the first guy is dead, and as long as things are dyeing, energy should be plentiful
With shadow strike and Lifebane strike + vamp spirit hitting them for about 150 dmg a pop, if they are above 50%..........
Whats very important to understand is vamp spirit is PB(Point Blank)
This build can be varied in any way u like it, and channeling + well of blood are not necessary, u can vary it with dark aura, as ive tried but it reduces healing, especially because there arnet many sac skills sides dark pact.
Counters: Interupts, interupting shadow strike or Lifebane strike Takes down the main dmg source when they are ^50% health,
Shutdown, such as diversion, blackout, backfire
E-denial-no energy no dmg no healing =/
Enchantment shatters dont affect it too much as long as u have channeling covered up, with the very small rechare of vamp spirit, u can recast it if it gets removed.
Well thats my build, try it out if u want, its a decent factions elite worth trying out...
No, in case some1 was wondering, vamp spirit doesnt work with Touch rangers, necause it is only triggered by spells, and expertise is only triggered on skills, therefore vamp spirit does nothing unless u have like vamp gaze or life siphon or something like that.
As a whole, I was very very disappointed in the new elites they gave necromancers, at least when compared to the ones other professions got. Actually when you get right down to it I'm disappointed with ALL the new skills they gave necromancers in factions. The only ones I use that frequently are ones that are duplicates of existing prophecies skills so I can have two of them on my skill bar.
I don't play MM, so Flesh Golem (probably the neatest new elite we got) is worthless to me, I've tried a discord spammer and yeah it was so-so but only as damaging (or maybe a little less damaging actually) as many many other combinations I'd tried before factions even came out, and those were less conditional. I could find maybe one or two builds where you could get a couple of the new blood magic elites to be worth a shit, but again those were too conditional where you'd build the rest of your skill bar JUST to get that ONE elite to be worth something, and even then it was MAYBE...about the same as what we already had, but again, very conditional. You could get it working out pretty good...until you encountered just about anything else. Wail of Doom is a good skill, I just don't use it that often 'cause I don't really have a problem with attackers with the builds I was already using. I would like to use icy veins a lot more, but it's not really worth an elite slot for it's "it might be alright" damage.
I'll tell you what I think, I think they made necromancers too badass to begin with, so there wasn't much more they could do to make 'em better. As a whole, the new elites to me are like a really really extravagant mouse trap. You go through all this trouble to buy the parts, build it and get it working so you can execute your plan and capture the mouse, but afterwards you realize you could've just used your foot and killed the damn thing and saved yourself the trouble.
...did that make sense?
You nailed it exactly. I find myself staring at the new elites trying to think of actual uses for them and coming up with nothing or very little.
Flesh Golem - I don't dislike this elite, but lately I've found that I can run only Fiends and do just as well as FG+Fiends. if i was doing solo farming, then, absolutely I'd use FG. But it doesn't bring much once you're up and running, in fact, it's a liability for two reasons at least:
Attrocious AI - FG is the stupidest minion type of them all. He will run wayyyy outside the aggro bubble to attack mobs and once aggroed, he'll run back to you bringing them with him!!!
Terrible Pathing AI - He gets stuck on walls, seams, creases, air, bad thoughts, really anything. He just gets STUCK! He won't move = wasted elite.
Cultists Fervor - I think this one will eventually have a few good builds around it. It seems useful!
Vampiric Spirit - Really this is a Bloodspike elite to distract the infuser. It may have some limited uses in PvE, but not much.
Wail of Doom - REALLY good melee shutdown!!! It's EVILLLLLL! But.... it's SR based, and noone runs high SR except for MM's. Maybe useful for AB/Jade/Aspen though.
The normal skills aren't much better, although I do like Oppressive Gaze, which is just plain better than FoC at this point.
Sorry guys the purpose of the post wasn't to whine about how the new elites it was to think of possible combos or think of how you could slitely change it as in a buff to make it worth using.
If you think they are useless now than help come up with things that would make it useful....
Im Sorry but i dont get these people saying instead of whining think of new uses for these elites. Most of the Necros have been thinking...... I have read all the skills from all the professions all over again just trying to put stof together. Here is my take on the new elites:
Cultists Fervor Could have some uses... Maybe 55 hp orders necro :? Vamp Spirit Def could have some uses i tried running a build with this last night though with inspiration skills to gain back energy but what im finding is that a lot of the blood SPELLS are actually high energy. Touch of Agony/Wallows Bite are not spells which i wish they would be so then vamp spirit could trigger them. Spoil Victor This while it can be used is just worthless imo. So many other better elites you can get from the blood line. Wail of Doom On paper seems like a good skill......but the soul reaping req and never works when i want it 2 Weaken Knees Lol what where they thinking. Make this an instant cast Hex and its good otherwise wtf u spend 1 sec casting the spell the guy will just run away. Also maybe improve it like spinal shivers. If the guy is moving for more than like 2-3 secs then he is kded and you loose 5 energy maybe.
my friends guild uses a sweet gvg build surrounding the elite -Order of Apostacy-, though im not going to say it.. while i guested for them, they devestated 3 gvg teams in a row. And the gvg teams that were fought were in the 1100-1200 range

Unless they had more than 2 warriors I don't think the build was based on OoA at all...and it would be tough to use effectively with a 25 energy cost and the sac over all is bigger if you strip any monk enchantments.
